Properties: An organic compound, freely soluble in water and slightly soluble in organic solvents. Melting point: 40-42°C, boiling point: 236.6°C (760 mmHg), flash point: <110°C. It has two amino groups and can participate in amine-related reactions, such as neutralizing acids or acting as an absorbent. It should be stored at 2-8°C, protected from light, to maintain stability and purity.
Uses: Used as a formaldehyde absorbent, as well as an absorbent for carbon dioxide and acidic gases (such as sulfur dioxide). It is used as a bidentate diamine ligand in the synthesis of organometallic compounds. It is a precursor for the fluorescent dsDNA binder BAPPA and can also be used as an intermediate in organic synthesis, such as pyrimidines.
