Properties: Colorless liquid, melting point -35.8°C, boiling point 90-92°C, relative air density 0.8 g/ml (25°C), refractive index 1.4007, flash point 12°C. Solubility in water at 20°C: 2.57 g/100 g; solubility in water at 50°C: 2.69 g/100 g. Miscible with acetone, octane, and toluene at 20-25°C. Has a tear-inducing effect; has chronic toxicity and is harmful to the skin. Polymerizes readily; 0.1% hydroquinone is often added as a stabilizer.

Uses: It is an important raw material for organic synthesis. It can be hydrolyzed and esterified to obtain methyl methacrylate. It can also be polymerized into high molecular materials and used to make composite materials, new pesticide products and organic chemical synthesis products.
